Although Kevin De Bruyne will miss Manchester City's  match against Arsenal, it is not believed that his injury will keep him out of action indefinitely. Just before halftime in Wednesday's 0-0 Champions League opening between City and Inter Milan inside the Etihad Stadium, De Bruyne seemed to have a groin issue.

The City playmaker was taken to the sidelines by City's medical staff for treatment, and manager Pep Guardiola said it was too soon to determine the severity of the problem. However, it is believed that De Bruyne will not participate in Sunday's match against Mikel Arteta's team because City is not willing to take the chance of playing him and maybe losing him for more time.

De Bruyne, 33, started for City for the fifth time in a row during the draw with Inter; he also featured twice for Belgium in the most recent international break. On Wednesday, Phil Foden was out due to sickness, but he is expected to play against Arsenal alongside Ilkay Gundogan, who replaced De Bruyne.

“I was ready to make this substitution anyway” : Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola hinted that even before he felt the knock on his hand, he was considering benching his skipper. He said, "I didn't speak with the doctors yet. I will have more info tomorrow. "The way they defend, I was thinking after 35 minutes that I wanted to make this substitution. After the doctor said to me that Kevin was not ready to play but I was ready to make this substitution anyway.""

The former Bayern Munich manager added, "Against a team that defended 5-3-2 and five players went to one side, they could not make contact with Rodri and you have to turn the ball quick and we needed players special for small spaces. Rico [Lewis], Phil and Gundo are the best in the pockets, in the small spaces. Phil turned and shot and Gundo was there for the two crosses.
