Radu Dragusin, the star for Tottenham, was sent off in the seventh minute in Thursday night's UEFA Europa League game in London against Qarabag. When the Romanian international was left with nothing to do but bring down his opponent, he was discovered to be dozing off with the ball.
With his head in his hands, Dragusin, the final man, could have no complaints. With no hesitation, the referee blew for the foul and flashed the red card. Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou was yelling and rotating his head in fury from the sidelines, but he wasn't the only one.
After a dismal start to the Premier League, the Australian manager is already under pressure, and he needs a few wins in Europe to allay concerns about his future.Postecoglou did show his support by slapping Dragusin's hands as he went off the pitch.
And shortly after, Tottenham Hotspur took the lead thanks to Brennan Johnson, and the former Celtic manager was grinning. The Wales international was awarded an opportunity when Qarabag made a mistake in defense, which he expertly converted.
The 23-year-old has proved on a roll lately and now has a goal in three straight games, following goals against Brentford and Coventry. The former occurred in the Carabao Cup in the 92nd minute, saving Spurs from the penalty shootout when Djed Spence had tied the score just moments earlier.
“I’ll give everything for this club” : Son Heung-min
The future of Son Heung-min is currently a hot topic of discussion. The South Korean international has proved a pillar of the Tottenham team for many years, but his contract is about to expire, so it's possible he'll go for free in 2025.
The Tottenham Hotspur captain, who rose to prominence at Bayer Leverkusen, moved to North London back in 2015. Since entering the Premier League team, he hasn't looked back and has been considered one of their most reliable players.
He recently said in an interview that, “We haven’t talked about anything yet. I am fully focused on this year and just want to win something that everyone at the club deserves. In the future you never know what will happen. I’ll give everything for this club for sure.”
