According to ESPN, the 33-year-old magician sustained a left thigh injury just 34 minutes into Wednesday night's Serie A match. He was forced to be substituted. This setback comes shortly after the former Barcelona player had returned from a similar injury (a niggle in his thigh), having come on as a substitute against Fluminense last weekend.

Neymar graced the pitch with a special number 100 jersey on the occasion of his 100th appearance for Santos. Unfortunately, the occasion didn't go as planned as Neymar was forced to move out. Neymar left the pitch, trying to hide his tears with his hands, a scene which broke the hearts of millions of his fans.

"It's still too early to give any definitive answer, we don't have a diagnosis yet, And that’s it, now we really have to pray that it’s not something that will keep him out for a long time," said Santos coach Cesar Sampai.

Santos FC will hope that their star man returns to the pitch as soon as possible especially when the team is having a hard time in Brazil's top flight. Neymar has played 8 matches for Santos since returning to his boyhood club from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal. He has also netted 3 goals and provided 2 assists in these matches. Neymar remained out of action for almost a year last season with an excruciating ACL injury.
