WATCH: Mohamed Salah's brilliant assist to Cody Gakpo sets up Liverpool's opener against Manchester City

Liverpool, the leaders of the Premier League, will be enjoying their schedule as they play home to Manchester City, the reigning champions, on Sunday. The Reds were outstanding once more. They won the UCL match by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday night against Real Madrid.  After their thrilling 3-2 victory against Southampton last weekend, they now lead the English league by eight points.

The reigning champions, who are experiencing an unprecedented crisis, might be 11 points ahead of Arne Slot's team. One more match, one more goal for Mo Salah, who helped Cody Gakpo open the scoring against Manchester City. When Liverpool overwhelmed reigning champions Manchester City at home on Sunday, Cody Gakpo's second Premier League goal of the season opened the scoring. Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville called the Cityzens "absolutely beat." 

After Trent Alexander-Arnold's brilliant long-range ball gave them possession, Salah charged into the City penalty area and faced Manuel Akanji, who was unsure whether to twist or stick. Then, Liverpool's number 11 created a fantastic cross that Gakpo finished close to the goal with to give the Reds a well-earned early lead.

Liverpool misses lot of chances

When faced with Mohamed Salah, even a seasoned and successful defender like Akanji appeared terrified, and the Man City player could only watch as Liverpool struck a hole in the visitors' defense to end the opening quarter-hour standoff.  Stefan Ortega could have already given the Reds a couple, but they were wasteful, and Virgil van Dijk also hit the post with a header.

With Gakpo available to slide into an open goal at the far post, Arne Slot's team managed to draw first blood in just 12 minutes. But only a spectacular ball from Salah, who outsmarted Ortega to pick his strike partner with exquisite accuracy, allowed Gakpo to score with ease.
