During the 120th minute of the encounter between Spain and Germany at the Stuttgart Arena, Mikel Merino got the all decisive goal to send the hosts out of the tournament. Dani Olmo, who scored the opening goal of the match after being subbed on for the injured Pedri in the first half got the assist for the winner.

It was his cross from the right that was met by Merino and he dispatched it past the ageing Manuel Neuer. Despite all this, Jamal Musiala and Nicklas Fullkrug had chances at the end but did not have composure when they required it the most. The 2-1 result means Spain go through to the semi-finals, whilst hosts Germany bow out of the tournament in extraordinary fashion.

How did the game between Spain and Germany pan out earlier?

In their vital quarterfinal match versus hosts Germany at the UEFA Euro 2024, the Spanish national team grabbed the lead. In what seemed to be an intriguing contest, "La Roja" took the lead thanks to an outstanding strike by Dani Olmo during the first five minutes of the second half.

The Spanish squad executed a fantastic team play that resulted in a precise outside-the-area effort by Dani Olmo that scored the goal. The German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer had no choice but to let the ball slide into the upper right corner.

In a thrilling comeback, Germany tied Spain in the first quarterfinal match of UEFA Euro 2024, forcing extra time. Florian Wirtz has had a terrific season at the club level, but it's possible that he's just cemented his legacy in German legend.

When Germany desperately needed help at the UEFA Euro 2024, the gifted Bayer Leverkusen player delivered, thumping home a goal with just a few minutes remaining to assist Julian Nagelsmann's team force extra time versus Spain.

After Olmo's goal in the second half, Germany desperately needed a hero, and with time rapidly running out at the MHP Arena, they got it. From Maximilian Mittelstadt, a long looping cross headed back across the territory to Wirtz, who required no direction as to what to do next.
