Tonight at the Stuttgart Arena in this UEFA Euro 2024 quarterfinal, Spain and Germany will square off for a quarterfinal spot.

FC Barcelona and Spanish midfielder Pedri had to be taken off during the eighth minute. In the first moments of the game, he tumbled down gripping his knees following a late and forceful charge from Toni Kroos.

Following an assist from Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo finished expertly from the fringe of the penalty box to put the ball in the bottom left corner. As the home team, Germany was under pressure to score in order to force extra time in the match. After Florian Wirtz's goal in the 89th minute pulled the score to 1-1, the German fans in the Stuttgart Arena erupted like crazy.

The game lumbered into extra time after neither team was able to take the lead in stoppage time in the second half. If, after thirty minutes, the score is still tied, penalties will come into the picture, which both the teams wouldn’t want.

Florian Wirtz starts from the bench for Germany against Spain

Leroy Sane starts in place of Florian Wirtz, the German midfielder, for the match against Spain. In the round of 16 match versus Denmark, the Bayer Leverkusen player, who started as the team's left winger under Julian Nagelsmann in the group stages, did not stand out. During the 10th minute of the competition against Scotland, the 21-year-old not only assisted but also scored the game's first goal.

Robert Andrich, who just had an incredible undefeated campaign with Bayer Leverkusen, has started every game for Germany in the competition thus far, logging 246 minutes of action. Nevertheless, after receiving a booking in Germany's first game against Scotland, the 29-year-old is just one yellow card from serving a semifinal suspension if Germany progresses.

With the exception of the match against Switzerland, Emre Can has started every game off the bench. In the first game against Scotland, he even scored the fifth goal.
