In a bid to bolster their squad for the upcoming season, Manchester United are set to sign two big names, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. The Red Devils are closing in on completing two massive deals as both Bayern Munich stars are set to depart to Manchester.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, de Ligt and Mazraoui were seen arriving at the Munch airport on Monday (August 12). Assuming that both passed their medicals, they will now head to the northwest of England to sign a five-year deal with the Premier League giants.

When asked by Sky Sports reporters about his thoughts on the move at the airport, de Ligt did not bother to give a lengthy explanation, instead fuelled fans’ excitement by saying, “Noussair is waiting for me!”.

De Ligt's deal is understood to be worth €50m (£42.9m), with an initial €45m (£38.6m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons. The Dutch professional spent two seasons at Bayern Munich since signing from Juventus. He represented the German club on 73 occasions and scored five goals.

Mazraoui's deal, on the other hand, is worth £17m, with a proposal for an initial £13m plus £4m in bonuses. The double swoop from Munich will strengthen United’s defence. Notably, right-back Mazraoui, entered the final year of his deal at Bayern, can also play as a left-back. This position has been causing headaches for United over the past 12 months.

De Ligit, who plays as a centre-back for the Bundesliga club, had previously played under Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax. The two won together the Eredivisie in 2019. If the deal is completed by midday on Thursday, both de Ligit and Mazraoui will be available for the Red Devils’ opening Premier League match against Fulham on Friday.
