Mario Gotze scores from 40 yards

Frankfurt headed into the fixture with a slender 2-1 lead but didn't appear complacent at any stage of the match. Jean-Mattéo Bahoya scored the opener. Mario Gotze and Ekitiké racked up two more goals to give Frankfurt a 3-0 lead by the 67th minute. Mario Gotze was, however, not satisfied with just a goal to his name as he struck his second, 40 yards away from goal in the 82nd minute.

Ajax's goalkeeper Matheus left his goal and made an effort to clear the ball away well outside Ajax's box. The ball dropped near Gotze's foot, and he found the back of the net with a perfect long ranger.

Mario Gotze is famous for his goal in the finals of the FIFA World Cup 2014, where Germany defeated Argentina in extra time. Mario Gotze joined Eintracht Frankfurt from PSV in 2022. Since then, he has made 82 appearances for this club and scored 8 goals. He has also represented Germany in 66 matches and has netted 17 goals.

Eintracht Frankfurt stands fourth in the Bundesliga standings after 25 matches with 42 points. They stand a chance to play in the UEFA Champions League next season lest they hold onto a top-four finish.
