The Major League Soccer returned back after the break LA Galaxy were facing Atlanta United at Dignity Health Sports Park. During this summer transfer window, many star players joined MLS and one was the signing of Marco Reus to LA Galaxy. After spending 12 years in Germany with Borussia Dortmund during the last season Macro Reus announced that this will be the last season for him at the club.
Later, it was revealed that Marco Reus was joining LA Galaxy in MLS. For Borussia Dortmund Marco Reus played 429 games and scored 170 goals across all tournaments. However, his last game for his beloved club ended on a bad note as Borussia Dortmund lost the UEFA Champions League title to Real Madrid.
During the game against Atlanta United Borussia Dortmund legend Marco Reus had to wait till 62 minutes to make his debut for his new club LA Galaxy and MLS. Reus, who signed earlier this month, joined the team as part of a three-man sub move with Miguel Berry and Gaston Brugman, demonstrating the depth of the Galaxy roster following Reus's arrival.

He helped set up Riqui Puig for the game-winning goal in the 76th, as the latter scored from a distance well inside the 18-yard box. In the 67th minute, Derrick Williams, an Atlanta defender, blocked Puig's attempt, giving the Galaxy a chance to take the lead. Guzan stopped Joseph Paintsil's effort on a penalty kick that was awarded to the Galaxy.

Then, in front of a sellout crowd of 25,174 at Dignity Health Sports Park, Reus scored on the rebound in the 85th minute after being stopped on his opening attempt to seal a 2-0 victory over Atlanta United. After the win captain of LA Galaxy Maya Yoshida said,
This win now widens the gap between LA Galaxy who have won 15 games and are placed in first position and LAFC are placed in second position in the Western Conference. With 52 points LA Galaxy are currently leading the Western Conference in MLS.
