Manchester City look to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in 2025

According to reports, Manchester City is pursuing Florian Wirtz more aggressively than competitors like Liverpool, and the German is expected to fetch a hefty price tag.  Numerous elite teams are vying for Florian Wirtz, but Manchester City is apparently in the lead, according to Caught Offside. With Liverpool among the teams prepared to make an impression in the contest, Bayer Leverkusen may have to accept losing the 2023–24 league champion, who is valued at £100 million. 

One of the primary reasons that Bayer Leverkusen almost won a record-setting treble without dropping a single game at the end of the season was Florian Wirtz. Their lone defeat of the season in every competition came during the UEFA Europa League Final, as Atalanta easily defeated them.

Xabi Alonso's choice to stay in charge was the primary reason why practically everyone stayed around during the summer, when there were rumors of a number of exits from Leverkusen, including the departure of playmaker Florian Wirtz. It is very possible that this outstanding squad will disband since the Spaniard is expected to depart next summer. 

Since Leverkusen is not anticipated to sell Wirtz for less than £100 million, the deal will bring in enormous sums of money. Only a handful of the best teams are thus likely to be interested in him, with Manchester City being one of them.

Although the paper claims so, the actual situation may be quite different. Any elite player would be enticed to join Manchester City, particularly after Pep Guardiola extended his contract there. However, teams like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are regarded as heavy favorites, particularly given their ties to Leverkusen boss Alonso.
