Lionel Messi returned to his MLS club, Inter Miami, with a bang as he scored a goal to contribute to their 2-0 victory over the Jamaican team, Cavalier SC. This win ensured the Herons advanced to the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup with a commanding 4-0 aggregate scoreline.
His inclusion into playing eleven remained a hot topic of discussion as Inter-Miami visited Jamaica to face Cavalier FC. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner didn't receive any playing minutes in the last three fixtures as the team decided to rest him to see off any injury concerns heading into more important matches in the season. Messi started on the bench for the game against Cavalier SC but was introduced as a substitute later in the fixture.
