Lionel Messi's 'never-seen-before' reaction to a Cristiano Ronaldo fan
During Inter Miami's recent 2-0 loss against Vancouver Whitecaps in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, a fan was spotted holding Cristiano Ronaldo's number '7' jersey while Lionel Messi left the field after the final whistle. The incident took place near the team tunnel. As Messi approached the team tunnel, the fan held Ronaldo's jersey right in the face of Messi.
Lionel Messi, who is otherwise known to have a humble and calm demeanour, couldn't help but react to this incident. Messi allegedly was spotted gesturing to himself as number one while Cristiano Ronaldo's fan held out the shirt of his idol. In another interpretation of his reaction, some people claimed Messi allegedly asked the fan to go see his idol ( Cristiano) in Saudi Arabia.
Messi's reaction may have stemmed from Inter Miami's dismal performance in the first leg of the semi-finals. The Herons trail by two goals as the fixture moves to their base, Chase Stadium. Miami fans are hopeful of a magical performance from Messi in the second leg to help rescue their club.
