Lionel Messi was in the spotlight for the Herons as they clinched their revenge on Atalanta United with a 2-1 victory. The victory propelled Inter-Miami to the top of the MLS Eastern Conference standings. Fafa Picault, a club veteran, netted the winning goal in the 89th minute to extend Miami's unbeaten streak this season. Inter-Miami finally avenged their playoff loss that denied them the chance to be crowned MLS Champions.

In an edge-of-the-seat thriller in front of a jam-packed 42,000-capacity Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta United's experienced goalkeeper Brad Guzan kept the hosts in the game up until the last minute of regulation time. However, Miami snatched a win when former Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba provided a precise cross inside Atlanta's box, which was headed home by Picault.

Atalanta United started the match on a high as they scored the opener off Emmanuel Latte in the 11th minute. However, the Herons were quick to equalise as the little magician netted a goal in the 20th minute, foxing the goalkeeper.

After the match, Lionel Messi was spotted with his best friend and colleague, former Uruguayan international Luis Suarez. The two former Barcelona stars were walking out of the stadium with Messi preparing 'Sipping Yerba Mate'. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner handed over the mate to his best friend, Luis Suarez, as both walked out. The sipping yerba mate is a traditional South American beverage that is commonly drunk in both Argentina and Uruguay.

The iconic Catalan duo joined InterMiami in 2022. Since joining the club, Luis Suarez has netted 29 goals in 45 appearances, while Messi has amassed 38 goals in 44 appearances. The duo helped Miami clinch the Supporters' Shield in the last season.
