Tigres has nominated Lizbeth Ovalle for consideration for this year's Puskas Award, celebrating her remarkable acrobatic goal against league rivals Guadalajara.
In the 75th minute of the match, with the scoreline drawn at 0-0, Chivas successfully cleared a corner kick. However, the ball rebounded to Jennifer Hermoso on the right wing. In a moment of magic, Spain's Jenni Hermoso delivered a precise cross into the box, setting the stage for Ovalle to execute a stunning finish. Showing her skill, she connected with the ball in mid-air and sent it into the top corner, just beyond the reach of goalkeeper Blanca Félix.

Ovalle's goal to be included for Puskas Award
Many advocated for her inclusion in the shortlist for FIFA's 2025 Puskas Award, which honours the year's best goal during the Ballon d'Or ceremony. As of now, her strike stands as the strongest contender for the 2025 FIFA Puskas Award
After the match, the midfielder stated via AP that she didn’t even know how she managed to pull it off. She hadn’t even seen it yet.
While this breathtaking effort has been labelled a scorpion goal, Ovalle humorously declared that she would refer to her astonishing shot as the shrimp instead.
"I don't even know how I did it. I haven't even seen it. I'll call it the shrimp," Ovalle said after the match in the post-match press interview.
The victory allowed Tigres to move ahead of Guadalajara into fourth place in the Mexican league Liga MX Femenil. Ovalle will aim to contribute to her team's success in the upcoming match against Necaxa on March 7.
