Spain is cruising through against Croatia in UEFA Euro 2024. As Luis de la Fuente's side scored 3 goals in the first half, in the all-important opening fixture the side. During the game, history was created as 16-year-old Lamine Yamal became the youngest assister in the history of the tournament. He surpassed the previous record set by Poland’s Kacper Kozłowski, who was 17 years and 246 days old when he played against Spain at Euro 2008. 

Previously the Spanish winger made history by becoming the youngest player ever to feature at a European Championship as he is just 16 years and 338 days old days when he made the record on the weekend. Yamal already became the youngest Barcelona player and the youngest player to start a La Liga match in the 21st century. The winger has been amazing for the Blaugranes in the 2023/24 season.

He made 37 appearances in La Liga and 10 in the Champions League, finishing the campaign with seven goals and 10 assists in all competitions. The forward started his debut game well and created problems down the right-hand side for Josko Gvardiol with his speed and dribbling ability. Right near the end of the first half delivered a beautiful pinpoint cross towards Real Madrid footballer Dani Carvajal who had made a run behind the defence to just put the ball in the net.

Yamal makes history

Presently Lamine Yamal has been considered one of football's most promising young players, both the Blaugrana and Spain are positive that the youngster will help them win titles shortly. He has already proven this season, notably with some standout performances in the Champions League, that he has no pressure or burden performing on the biggest stage.

He had the chance to score Spain's fourth goal and make his name in the history books as he was wide opened from a pass from his clubmate Pedri, which led him 1v1 with Dominik Livakovic who made a brilliant diving save towards his right side to deny the wonder kid on the night.
