WATCH: Kylian Mbappe finally scores in La Liga after amazing assist from Federico Valverde

Real Madrid took the lead thanks to a goal from Kylian Mbappe, who scored his first La Liga goal. Rodrygo performed admirably, cutting inside from the right side and slicing through a lot of opposition defenders to locate Federico Valverde, whose deft pass allowed Mbappe to score. 

Even though Vinicius was offside, Kylian Mbappe made a quick move to stay on the correct side of the line and beat the opposition player to the ball and then slid a lovely first-time finish past the flailing Silva. The Real Madrid players made sure there was no argument for offside before they went away for the celebrations.

The first significant chance of the game went to Betis when Ezzalzouil nodded over from close range. A few minutes later, Mbappe had two half-chances, first slicing at a Vinicius cutback and then dragging over from a tight angle. Both teams headed into the half-time break with the scoreline standing at nil. 

Real Madrid dominated every obstacle in their path the previous season, but so far, Ancelotti's club has had less luck in 2024–25, behind FC Barcelona by seven points at the halfway mark. Jude Bellingham remains out due to injury, and Mbappe hasn't been performing up to par. He did in fact have the most shots in La Liga going into this weekend's games, but this ended up being his first goal.

Who is starting for Real Madrid today against Real Betis?

Dani Ceballos and Rodrygo are the two additions to Carlo Ancelotti's starting lineup from the team that faced Las Palmas last week. Luka Modric, the seasoned midfielder who was a terrific presence in the midweek match, will start this match on the bench. Rodrygo, is preferred over Arda Guler since the former’s pace can be utilized on the right-wing.
