Ruben Amorim's initial stint at Manchester United has been both challenging and promising. While the team has enjoyed victories in their last two matches, the journey so far has presented its share of hurdles for the Old Trafford club.

FCSB had amassed 14 points from seven matches heading into the contest, and securing a victory against Manchester United would have crowned what has already been an impressive campaign.

Manchester United nearly took the lead in the first half

Manchester United dominated the first half with more possession and shots on target. While the Red Devils enjoyed 70 % possession, and the hosts only had 30 % of the same. United also created more scoring chances with the possession, one of which they should have buried but missed.

Mainoo had a great opportunity to score in the 34th minute. Rasmus Hojlund displayed his impressive movement by breaking the offside trap and reaching the byline. He expertly cut the ball back to Mainoo at the penalty spot, but unfortunately, the teenager couldn't quite find the target, sending his finish over the bar.

While Manchester United managed to keep 3 of their 6 shots on target, FCSB failed in its 2 attempts to even hit the target. United's goalkeeper was hardly tested in the first half. With the scoreline froze at 0-0 during half-time, there was plenty to play for both teams heading into the final half of the match.
