At the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, in the 27th minute of Portugal's Euro 2024 Group F encounter against Georgia, captain Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal was given a yellow card.  The 39-year-old and the referee had many arguments, and after he made an appeal demanding a penalty following a set piece, the referee entered his log. Ronaldo received a booking for demonstrating disapproval of Swiss referee Sandro Scharer's ruling while waving, indicating his shirt was being pulled.

This became the 39-year-old's 210th outing abroad. Ronaldo, who has not yet scored in the current European Championship, will try to add his name to the tally during the competition's knockout stages.

Georgia qualify for Round of 16 after a historic win against Portugal.

Georgia's last Group stage encounter versus Portugal took place on Wednesday at the Arena AufSchalke in Germany, where Khvicha Kvaratskhelia startled Portugal with a second minute goal for Georgia. In less than a minute and thirty-one seconds, he scored the first goal, moving Georgia up to third place in the standings. Nedim Bajrami's goal against Italy in just 23 seconds was the third-fastest strike in UEFA Euro 2024 and the fifth-fastest goal throughout the tournament's history.

Portugal was attacking the goal efficiently, but they were unable to reach the net. Georgia's defense appeared solid, but throughout the ninety minutes, its backline and goalkeeper appeared to be under constant siege. Georgia produced some incredible plays in the last third of the game and was doing a fantastic job with its counterattacks.

In the 52nd minute, a low driven pass from the right nearly found Kvaratskhelia inside the box, setting up Lochoshvili for another Georgian goal. Following a protracted VAR examination, Antonio Silva fouls Lochoshvili within the area, allowing the referee to award Georgia a penalty.

Mikautadze took his place and hammered the ball into the lower right area of the screen. With three goals and one assist in the group stage of the UEFA Euro 2024, this strike also guaranteed that he would lead the race for the most goals at the end of the current round.
