Gimenez uses Oxygen canister
During the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers between Uruguay and Bolivia at El Alto Stadium, Atletico Madrid's Jose Maria Gimenez was observed utilizing an oxygen mask.
The CONMEBOL qualifiers are often considered difficult for their challenging conditions, particularly when facing Bolivia, whose national stadium is situated at an altitude of 4,150 meters above sea level. In the match that ended in a goal-less draw, Gimenez was seen using Oxygen from a canister.

Gimenez spotted 'taking Oxygen'
El Alto's considerable altitude often presents a considerable challenge for visiting teams; in fact, FIFA has previously sought to restrict matches played at elevations exceeding 2,500 meters. A few years ago, Argentine captain and eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi had to be substituted by La Albiceleste after experiencing vomiting on the field due to fatigue associated with the high altitude.

The Uruguayan defender is set to return to his Spanish club, Atletico Madrid, as they are going to face Espanyol in hopes of keeping their Laliga dreams alive. Atletico Madrid are currently placed at third spot behind Real Madrid and table leaders Barcelona.
Jose Maria Gimenez started his career at Danubio in 2012. He got his big break in 2013 when he joined Laliga giants Atletico Madrid. Since then, Gimenez has made 247 appearances for the club across European competitions. He has also netted 5 goals playing as a centre-back.
