Salah vs Chelsea

When Mohamed Salah sent the ball towards the midfielder, Levi Colwill tripped Jones within the penalty area. To the dismay of the Chelsea players, the referee pointed to the spot right away. They believed that the penalty was a soft allegation. The VAR crew, however, chose to give the penalty to the hosts because they concurred with the on-field ruling.

Salah took the penalty kick for Liverpool and sent Robert Sanchez in the wrong direction with a powerful left-footed strike that passed through the right side of the net. The Egyptian forward's power and accuracy were flawless. Liverpool defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Anfield thanks to the goal.

The cheers in the fans erupted after Dutchman Cody Gakpo knocked home a cross via Salah on the right side. The linesman signals that Salah was offside throughout the build-up, so the Liverpool supporters' happiness is short-lived.

For the second occasion during this game, Chelsea believed they had conceded a penalty. Curtis Jones was attempting to make contact with the ball within the penalty box after Liverpool started an attack, but goalkeeper Sanchez moved out of his line to stop him.

For a VAR check, the referee made his way to the pitchside monitor. Goalkeeper Sanchez went to the ball first, according to replays, so the penalty judgment has been overturned. Additionally, the Chelsea goalie's yellow card had been revoked.

“I have a very good option with Cody” : Arne Slot

Despite being consistent starters for Arne Slot, Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister were both benched versus Chelsea, and the explanation for this has been revealed.  He received criticism for not rotating and adding new legs, Slot seemed to have taken the advice to heart.

The former Feyenoord manager said, “A bit more complicated than that [international minutes and travel] because Macca also was a bit ill when he came back during the flight, and that didn’t help. With Luis Diaz, it’s also that I have a very good option with Cody Gakpo. Of course, travelling doesn’t help, but there are more reasons for us to play Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo today.”
