Julian Alvarez's beautiful free-kick goal stuns the home crowd

Julian Alvarez opened the scoring for the hosts with a fabulous free kick from nearly 30 yards away. The Argentine broke the deadlock as he effortlessly curled home his shot into the top right corner of Real Betis's goal. The goal was reminiscent of his national team skipper Lionel Messi's free-kick goals back when he was in Barcelona. However, this was not the end of the day for the former Manchester City striker. He scored his second in the 75th minute for his side and then went on to assist another towards the end of the fixture.

Atlético Madrid's win crushed Real Betis's hopes for UEFA Champions League qualification next season. Despite the victory, Atletico Madrid will have to settle for a third-place finish behind FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in the La Liga table this season. Although Simeon's side led the standings for a decent tenure, the side lost momentum in the crucial middle phase, an area of concern they would like to work on moving into the next season.

Atletico Madrid will visit Girona at Montilivi to play the last game of the 2024-25 season. Julian Alvarez will be looking to end the season on a high by tallying up his goal contributions for Atletico.
