Serbian skipper Aleksandar Mitrovic was denied a penalty claim during the second half of their game against England. The former Fulham striker was one of the biggest threats to the England defence as he made crucial runs throughout his stay at the pitch. He had a great chance to be 1v1 against a goalkeeper but a shoulder push from Kieran Trippier saw him off the ball. The referee immediately decided that it was not a penalty and continued on with the game. The Serbian captain was then removed and was replaced by Luka Jovic, the former Real Madrid striker.
All eyes were on England as they began their UEFA Euro 2024 journey against Serbia at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. After a heart-breaking defeat to Italy at the Wembley stadium in the final of the previous edition of the tournament, the Three Lions hoped to go one better this year.

Jude Bellingham shines once again for England!
They started off as the brighter team as they looked to control the ball and create chances by keeping possession. After the first ten minutes of the contest, the UEFA Euro 2020 finalists had a staggering 82% possession. They were surely rewarded for their efforts as midfielder Jude Bellingham headed in a loose ball in the Serbian penalty area to give the lead to his side.
The Real Madrid superstar was the player of the first half as he was simply everywhere and controlled the play for his nation. He was seen helping out the defence as well from time-to-time and looked relentless in his efforts during his first-ever appearance in the tournament.
Serbia have looked threatening for a while now and are looking to get the equaliser but the England defenders have kept the opposition attackers quiet for most of the match. It would be interesting to see how the game unfolds and whether or not the Three Lions would be able to get all thre points in this fixture.
