Chelsea didn’t have an expected time in the last two matches against Fulham and Ipswich Town in the ongoing Premier League 2024-25. After the recent 0-2 defeat against Ipswich Town, Chelsea have slipped to the fourth spot on the tournament’s points table. In the same line of events, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has come up with his assessment after the team’s struggle in the last couple of matches. He feels that there’s still a work in progress, alongside accepting that all ups and downs are just the things that belong to football.

“In December, we played nine games and started by winning the first five or six, but then struggled. We arrived at the end of the month a bit tired in general,” said Maresca after the 0-2 defeat against Ipswich in the recent Premier League clash.

Furthermore, Maresca also admitted that his side was not ready to compete for the title. Still, he also felt that the Blues are heading ‘in the right direction’ with their performances in the ongoing edition of the Premier League.

“We expected this kind of moment during the season because we know that this kind of moment belongs to football. It is almost impossible to have a season where you do not have a moment like now for us,” he said.

“None of us in this room expected us to be where we are now. This means and shows that we are in the right direction, as I’ve said many times, but also that we are far from competing [with] consistency and being there with the best teams in England. I think we [have] to be satisfied with where we are but at the same time we need to know we [can] do things better,” the 44-year-old added later,” the 44-year-old added later.
