Thierry Henry part ways as coach of France U-21 team due to personal reasons

Football: On Monday, the French Football Federation (FFF) announced that Thierry Henry has stepped down as coach for France’s Under-21 football team.

On Monday, the French Football Federation (FFF) announced that Thierry Henry has stepped down as coach for France’s Under-21 football team. This decision just came after France lost the gold medal match in the Paris Olympics 2024 to Spain. While Thierry Henry's contract was until 2025.

As per reports, Thierry Henry has been leaving the coach position came personal reasons and no other reasons are there. During the FIFA World Cup 1998, Thierry Henry was a key player as France won the FIFA World Cup that year. Thierry Henry is the second-highest goal scorer for France and he was praised for his work throughout the Paris Olympics 2024.  

In the Paris Olympics 2024 France defeated Argentina and Egypt to reach in final but unfortunately lost 5-3 to Spain in extra time in the Paris Olympics final match and came in second place winning the silver medal. Henry praised the French Football Federation and President Philippe Diallo for the honour, stating that winning silver in the Paris Olympics is still one of his proudest achievements. The former Arsenal striker also expressed gratitude to the federation, players, staff, and supporters for enabling him to share the unique experience of guiding the team.

"I have to thank the FFF and Philippe Diallo [president of the FFF], who gave me this amazing opportunity," Henry said. "Winning a silver medal at the Olympics for my country will remain one of the proudest achievements of my life. "I am incredibly grateful to the Federation, the players, the staff and the supporters who allowed me to live out a magical experience," Thierry Henry said as per India Today.

In addition to thanking Henry for his achievements, FFF President Diallo said that the federation is actively seeking a new manager in front of the U21 Euro 2025 qualifiers. Henry was once the manager of the Montreal Impact in Major League Soccer and Monaco in Ligue 1. When Roberto Martinez was coaching Belgium's senior men's national team, he also worked as Martinez's assistant coach.
