Although the French capital's crowded stadium was cheering for the hosts, Spain emerged victorious against Les Bleus. France got off to a fantastic start to the contest when Enzo Millot started the scoring during the eleventh minute. However, Fermin Lopez scored the equalizer for La Furia Roja in the eighteenth minute, and seven minutes later, he increased the lead. In the 28th minute, Alex Baena, a midfielder for Villarreal, increased Spain's lead. With Spain leading France 3-1, both teams went into halftime.

Following the interval, France returned determinedly and generated opportunities, but they were unable to take advantage of them. Les Blues lost out on a terrific opportunity thanks to Jean-Philippe Mateta, and Spain lost out on a tremendous opportunity to close the deal thanks to Pablo Barrios.

Eleven minutes remaining, Maghnes Akliouche cut the hosts' deficit. The game went into extra time after Mateta equalized for France during the 93rd minute from the penalty spot. Spain defeated France 5-3 in the Paris 2024 Olympic men's football match at the Parc des Princes, thanks to two braces in extra time scored by Sergio Camello, helping the country win the gold medal for the first time in 32 years.

When was the last time Spain clinched the gold medal before the Paris Olympics 2024?

This time, Spain was at a similar crossroads as the previous time it competed in the Olympics, when it lost to a Brazilian team that won the gold medal in extra time.Spain defeated Morocco 2-1 during the semifinal this year and went on to beat France 5-3 earlier today.

Men's football has only had gold medal victories for Spain once, in the 1992 Olympic Games. In the final match, La Roja defeated Poland, led by goals from Abelardo and Kiko, the legendary player for Atletico Madrid, with two braces.

Spain would try to top off an incredible summer in which the senior and under-19 sides won the European championship championships, less than twelve months after triumphing in the UEFA Nations League.
