Former Manchester United midfielder and football analyst Paul Scholes has shared his insights on Arsenal's performance following their 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

In a match that saw Red Devils captain Bruno Fernandes score a controversial free-kick just before half-time, Arsenal had to work hard to find a way back into the game. Mikel Arteta's side showed resilience, managing to equalize with 15 minutes left on the clock, thanks to a screamer from Declan Rice. Despite this moment of brilliance, Arsenal failed to break down United's defence for much of the match.

Arsenal's injury crisis has impacted their title ambitions, with key players like Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Kai Havertz unavailable at a crucial point in the race. The Gunners are on track to finish in second place for the third consecutive season, standing a hefty 15 points behind leaders Liverpool.

Paul Scholes criticizes Arsenal

Scholes has been unequivocal in his criticism of Arsenal, stating that they resemble a mid-table team from the Spanish La Liga. The 11-time Premier League winner pointed out that while their playing style may be visually appealing, it fundamentally lacks the substance necessary for winning silverware.

"They're like a mid-table, Spanish La Liga team with the way they play, but they got no substance," Scholes said.

With their prospects of winning silverware dwindling, Arsenal's last hope this season rests on the Champions League—an elusive trophy that has slipped through their fingers for far too long. Arsenal have a decent chance of qualifying to the quarterfinals of the marquee event, having won their first leg round of 16 encounter with a massive 7-1 scoreline against PSV.
