Haaland secured a long-term deal this week, ensuring his presence with the reigning Premier League champions until the summer of 2034. With De Bruyne's contract set to expire at the end of the season, the club is hopeful for a positive outcome regarding the Belgian's future.

De Bruyne has faced some injury concerns recently, which has resulted in him making only 14 appearances in the Premier League this season. Despite speculation about a potential transfer, Guardiola has expressed a strong commitment to keeping the once-in-a-generation playmaker at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep hopes Kevin treks Halland's path

When asked about the possibility of the midfielder signing a new deal, Guardiola asserted that it can definitely happen. He emphasised that Kevin is in significantly better physical condition and noted that Kevin is feeling much improved. Pep acknowledged the challenges Kevin has faced over the past five years but praised his determination this season, highlighting that he has continued to play even when not at his best. Kevin's incredible work ethic is evident, and Pep has witnessed his strong commitment to returning to top form.

"Of course it can happen. Kevin is in improved physical condition. He knows that. He says he feels better. He has been struggling a lot for five years and made an effort this season, playing when he was not at his top. There is no player at that age, even younger, that cannot play without niggles. But some problems are more difficult to handle than the other ones. Kevin has struggled a lot and made an incredible work ethic. I saw him working very well to come back and being the best. And of course, having that special quality that is unique in the world." Pep said.

With ongoing speculation regarding his future, De Bruyne is anticipated to play a key role in the match against Ipswich in the English top flight on Sunday.
