Trent Alexander-Arnold is keeping quiet about his Liverpool future as he enters the final 10 months of his current Anfield deal. The defender insists that his aspirations will heavily influence his decision regarding his future beyond the end of the season.
The right-back has been a crucial part of new head coach Arne Slot’s plans, featuring in all six matches under his tenure. He delivered an impressive assist for Luis Díaz in the 3-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday, securing Liverpool’s second place in the standings for the weekend. However, like Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, his contract is set to expire in June.
Conditions under which Arnold is expected to extend his stay
Alexander Arnold asserted that he wants to be a Liverpool player for the current season. He mentioned how he represented Liverpool for over 20 years and how his contract extensions had never been made public beforehand and he expected the same even this time.
He asserted that winning Trophies is going to be a key factor in his decision to prolong his stay at Liverpool. He mentioned being a personality who gets motivated by winning Trophies.
“I want to be a Liverpool player this season [as a minimum] , I have been at the club 20 years now, I have signed four or five contract extensions and none of those have been played out in public and this one won’t be either.” - Arnold said
“The most important thing is always trophies if I am honest, I want to win trophies, I am a player who is highly motivated by trophies and winning things and being elite. So that is probably the main factor of anything, if you have a personality that is elite, who wants to win and will do anything to win then that is what drives me.” - Arnold added when asked about factors that might influence his decision.
An Aspiring Leader
Alexander-Arnold has been a stay at Liverpool since he was six and progressed through the ranks to the club's first team. He has appeared in 231 Premier League Fixtures so far. He was a member of Jurgen Klopp's team that won the Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup and League Cup.
The English fullback, who aspires to be the leader of the pack at his club, is already an integral personality within the dressing room. He has helped his side make a strong start to the Premier League Season with 4 wins in 5 fixtures, under Arne Slot.
