'The club..' Paris Saint Germain faces stark allegations from Mbappe's lawyer

Kylian Mbappe's legal situation with Paris Saint-Germain has garnered significant attention this season. At the centre of the dispute is a claim for €55 million in unpaid dues that Mbappe is seeking from PSG. Notably, the French Football League (LFP) has issued two rulings in favour of Mbappe. However, PSG has yet to fulfil this financial obligation and is exploring various legal avenues regarding the matter.

Mbappe's lawyer criticize PSG

Mbappe’s lawyer has publicly criticised PSG’s strategies, asserting that the club aims to evade the regulations of football. She contends that they are prepared to dismantle the system rather than fulfil their obligations.

Verheyden further explained that only €25 million would directly benefit Mbappe, with the remainder designated for social security and taxes. She accuses PSG of exploiting various legal channels to escape their financial responsibilities.

“PSG wants to escape the rules of football. It is willing to tear down the system rather than meet its obligations. If the governing bodies do not protect contracts and their regulations, we are sending a strong signal saying, 'You can trample on the players," she said.

“PSG has taken the LFP to the Paris Court of Justice, arguing that it is not competent to force a club to respect the commitments it has made. This is becoming a much bigger problem than my client’s case. It could blow up the whole system," she said.

Verheyden is concentrating on securing the payments owed to Mbappe, despite having the option to pursue broader legal action for image damage or psychological harassment. 

"My aim is not to punish PSG. Otherwise, we would have gone to court a long time ago for damage to the image or psychological harassment. All Kylian Mbappe wants is to be paid what he is owed," she added.

Verheyden has taken his appeal to the French Football Federation (FFF), seeking to enforce the decisions of the LFP and potentially impose sporting sanctions by bringing UEFA into the equation.
