Kylian Mbappe expresses a sense of disappointment at the possibility of not having the opportunity to share the dressing room with Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
Mbappe's admiration for Ronaldo has been a significant part of his football journey. As a young player, he looked up to the Portuguese icon and closely followed his remarkable career at Real Madrid, where Ronaldo set numerous records and achieved incredible milestones. This admiration was evident when Mbappe celebrated his own unveiling last summer by recreating the iconic "Uno, dos, tres, Hala Madrid!" chant from Ronaldo’s 2009 presentation.
Mbappe on playing with Ronaldo
After a once-in-a-lifetime experience of playing alongside Lionel Messi at Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe confidently stated that teaming up with Ronaldo would have been a thrilling addition to his career.
"I’ve played with great players: Lionel Messi, Neymar, [Antoine] Griezmann, [Paul] Pogba, [Karim] Benzema... It would have been fun to play with Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s going to be very difficult now, but I was lucky enough to play against him, a legend of the sport." he said.
Since making his move to Madrid last summer, leaving PSG behind, Mbappe has firmly established himself at the club. His contributions were pivotal in securing the Intercontinental Cup on Wednesday, marking his second major trophy with the Spanish giants after winning the UEFA Super Cup in August.
Mbappe is fully aware that he has a journey ahead of him to reach the extraordinary heights set by Ronaldo at the Santiago Bernabeu. Ronaldo's record of 450 goals in just 438 appearances for Madrid stands at the apex in the club's history.
