When he came from the bench for Northampton Town versus Bradford City during the FA Cup in November 2012, he was sixteen years old and the youngest player who played for Northampton Town. After making 60 appearances and scoring 13 goals three years later, he signed a £250,000 contract to play for Newcastle United, which was meant to be the beginning of the end for him.

But during his tenure at St. James' Park, Toney made just four senior appearances, all as substitutes. Toney has developed into a lethal attacker four and a half years following Newcastle permanently transferred him for £650,000 to League One team Peterborough United. However, good run of form has led them to an England call-up for the UEFA Euro 2024 and he has been playing well for the nation so far.

“I can't predict the future” : Ivan Toney

Ivan Toney, a striker for Brentford, says he is not thinking about his future and that his "main focus" revolves around doing well for England. Despite being in Germany, the 28-year-old has not yet appeared for Gareth Southgate's team at UEFA Euro 2024.

The forward's future has been the subject of much speculation, with many top-tier teams reportedly showing interest. In response to a question on Toney that came up during his time as a BBC pundit, Bees manager Thomas Frank stated that the team had "prepared" for the striker's departure by acquiring Igor Thiago from Club Bruges.

The Brentford striker said, "I didn't hear him say that. I can't predict the future and if I could I wouldn't be sat here in front of you guys. What will be will be and my main focus is playing well and doing well for my country."

He added, "I've been through it [transfer speculation] before. There's been lots of talk of me going here, there and everywhere before in my career and I just don't let outside noise get to me. I'm here with England now, and the main focus is doing well for England and whatever happens, happens. I can't control it.”
