Cole Palmer has been named the Premier League's 'Young Player of the Season' following a breakout season in his debut with Chelsea FC. Palmer has 22 goals and 10 assists in 33 matches, bringing his total goal involvement to 32. He is now second in the race to win the Golden Boot, five goals below Manchester City's Erling Haaland.
The 22-year-old joined Chelsea from Manchester City this past summer and has since become a fan favourite. Palmer additionally became the first Chelsea player to get the accolade since it was introduced during the 2019-20 season. Palmer became just the third player throughout the history of the Premier League to score 30 or more goals in a single campaign while under the age of 22.
The forward also equalled Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard's Chelsea mark of 16 home league strikes in one campaign, with highlights included a four-goal haul against Everton and a stunning hat-trick in our victory over Manchester United. Palmer won the honour despite stiff competition from Manchester City's Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, Arsenal's Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo, and Tottenham's Destiny Udogie.

Palmer's next step is to participate in the Euros alongside England, when he is likely to team up with Foden. However, it remains to be seen whether England coach Gareth Southgate would take Chelsea forward to Germany.
