Mohun Bagan lost 3-0 against Sunil Chhetri's team, Bengaluru FC. Sunil Chhetri's goal against Mohun Bagan Super Giant cemented his place in Indian Super League (ISL) history as the league's all-time scorer. The captain, who had earlier helped the Blues score their second goal in the 20th minute by setting up Suresh Wangjam, scored the game's third goal when he converted the penalty in the 51st.

With 64 goals in 158 league games for Bengaluru FC and Mumbai City FC, the former Indian international has now surpassed Bartholomew Ogbeche's previous record. By becoming the Indian Football Team's all-time top goal scorer and winning the country's top football competition, the 40-year-old striker has added even more glitter to his already illustrious reputation.

With nine points after the victory over Mohun Bagan, Bengaluru FC surged to the top of the standings. They now face off against Punjab FC, who have also won three of their games and have nine points from their record.Β Even though he is no longer playing Indian football, Sunil Chhetri never ceases to astound his supporters.

In his 17 games with Mumbai City FC during his first season in the Indian Super League in 2015, Chhetri scored 7 goals. The striker scored 57 league goals and tallied 12 assists for the Blues after joining Bengaluru FC in the 2017–18 campaign. In the 2018–19 campaign, the seasoned player won his first league title with the squad. He had a significant influence, contributing three assists and nine goals to the team's success.

Sunil Chhetri international career ended with bad note

Mohun Bagan suffered their first defeat of the season as BFC won their third straight game. Sunil Chhetri has won the AIFF Player of the Year award seven times. In 2010, he played for the Kansas City Wizards of Major Division Soccer (MLS) in the United States. Two years later, he was a member of Sporting CP's reserve squad in the Portuguese football division. He did this to become the first football player from India to appear on many continents.

His remarkable international career and a chapter in Indian football history ended bitterly when India's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Kuwait ended in a dreadful 0-0 draw in Kolkata earlier this year in June.Β
