Tim Weah, the winger for the United States Men’s National Team, received a straight red card for punching an opponent around the head during their Copa America 2024 match. Gregg Berhalter's team was reduced to 10 men just before the 20th minute during their Copa America encounter, shortly after VAR disqualified what many believed to be the United States Men’s National Team's opening goal.
Weah and Panamanian defender Roderick Miller collided as the play was still in progress, and Weah promptly struck Miller in the back of the head. Referee Iván Barton converted the play's initial yellow card decision to a red one, but not before one of the briefest VAR reviews you'll ever witness. This was an incident of insanity for Weah, who has to give a serious explanation for losing his composure at the most inconvenient time. Weah's tournament may be ended because of the probable multi-game suspension that will follow the event.
The Juventus winger's sending off immediately put the hosts behind and gave Panama an early advantage. Nevertheless, the hosts triumphed over difficulty almost immediately, as Folarin Balogun scored the game's first goal. But that shortcoming quickly reappeared when Panama equalized a few minutes later.
Timothy Weah might move out of Juventus after poor first season
Tim Weah's initial year in Italy has been extremely disappointing. According to reports, Juventus is seriously considering transferring Timothy Weah towards the end of the current campaign since he is having difficulty breaking into Massimiliano Allegri's starting lineup every single week.
Weah reportedly got interest from a number of English Premier League and Ligue 1 teams in January for a loan transfer, but both the team and the player turned it down. But if things don't work out at the team and a solid offer for Juventus and the American player comes during the summer, he might be leaving.

Hopefully Tim Weah gets a hefty ban for assaulting a fellow footballer. There’s no room for thugs in our beautiful game. pic.twitter.com/WirQSewJYc

I can’t believe Tim Weah man. In this moment. Home turf. This tournament. You basically attempt to knock someone out. He’s in my dog house until he wins a massive game for us. Immature and selfish. Moron.
