Star Barcelona striker set to miss first game of Euro 2024 due to injury

Euro 2024: Robert Lewandowski captain of the Poland team is going to miss the first match of Euro 2024 which is going to take place this weekend against the Netherlands.

Robert Lewandowski captain of the Poland team is going to miss the first match of Euro 2024 which is going to take place this weekend against the Netherlands. On Tuesday Polish Football Federation made an announcement that Robert Lewandowski will miss the game due to an injury.

This injury happened to him in a friendly match against Turkey on Monday where Poland won over Turkey 2-1. After just 33 minutes Robert Lewandowski had to leave the field. He was marking his 150th international appearance for the Poland team. However, Poland managed to win the match despite Robert Lewandowski leaving the field in the middle and ending their preparations for Euro 2024 with a win.

Poland will start their Euro 2024 campaign on 16th June as they take on the Netherlands which later follows on taking Austria on 21st June and on 25th June France. Meanwhile, Jacek Jaroszewski who is the doctor of the Poland team stated that he expects Robert Lewandowski to be available for the second match against Austria.

Injury worries for Poland Team

As per India Today Jaroszewski said, "We are doing everything so that Robert can play in the second match against Austria." Meanwhile, head coach Michal Probierz has stated that the injury is not so serious. After playing against Turkey in a friendly match he expressed that there "shouldn't be a problem" with the captain Robert Lewandowski's recovery. However, the coach is also dealing with other key player injury problems.

Karol Swiderski was also injured while celebrating his goal against Turkey while his teammate Paewl Dawidowicz also got pain in his quadriceps during the same match. Poland team doctor Jaroszewski has stated that players may return to full training by the time of 3-4 days. While Poland is going into the tournament with their striker Arkadiusz Milik. Last Friday he got injured during the warmup match against Ukraine and has gone on a small surgery. 

Even though there are many problems with Poland they are going into Euro 2024 with confidence and haven’t lost the last eight matches. They have also reached the quarter-final in Euro 2016.
