Serbia has threatened to withdraw from UEFA Euro 2024 provided UEFA does not intervene in response to reports of chanting between Albanian and Croatian supporters. There were few fans at the 2-2 tie in Hamburg on Wednesday who were heard yelling insulting remarks directed towards Serbia.

The Football Association of Serbia's general secretary, Jovan Surbatovic, has proposed that Serbia might not be allowed to play in the competition in Germany provided the European governing body imposes severe enough penalties. On Thursday in Munich, Serbia takes on Slovenia during their second Group C match.

Jovan Surbatovic said, "What happened is scandalous and we will ask UEFA for sanctions, even if it means not continuing the competition," Surbatovic told Serbia state broadcaster RTS. We will demand from UEFA to punish the federations of both selections. We do not want to participate in that, but if UEFA does not punish them, we will think how we will proceed."

A statement from UEFA said that, "UEFA can confirm that one journalist has had his accreditation cancelled due to misconduct at the UEFA EURO 2024 match between Serbia and England on 16 June 2024."

Arlind Sadiku, the journalist from Kosovo, had his media accreditation revoked by UEFA on Wednesday due to allegations that he made a nationalist gesture against Serbian supporters during their Sunday match against England in Gelsenkirchen.

Due to supporters' use of an advert that "transmitted a provocative message unfit for a sports event" plus their tossing of objects inside the stadium, UEFA punished the Serbian Football Association on Monday. The Kosovo Football Federation filed a complaint against UEFA alleging that "Serbian fans displaying political, chauvinistic, and racist messages against Kosovo" following Serbia’s 1-0 loss to England was the reason for the accusation.

Surbatovic said that "We were punished for isolated cases and our fans behaved much better than the others. One fan was punished for racist insults and we don't want it to be attributed to others. We Serbs are gentlemen and we have an open heart."
