Supporters of Liverpool and Arsenal who are tuning into England's UEFA Euro 2024 match versus Denmark on Thursday certainly feel like they are seeing a bunch of strangers. In Frankfurt, Germany, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Declan Rice were the midfield players for England in their 1-1 tie with the Danes.

The standout player for Liverpool is accustomed to playing at right-back and providing creative leadership for the team, whereas Declan Rice has moved forward after making a record-breaking summer move from West Ham United to Arsenal. However, as they demonstrated last Sunday during their team's opening victory over Serbia as well as against Denmark, when they don the England uniform, they appear and perform like total outsiders.

Many have criticised Gareth Southgate and how they performed as a result, and Roy Keane has shared his opinions about Trent Alexander-Arnold starting in midfield. The legendary player didn't hold back while criticising the Liverpool player, saying that being substituted off in two consecutive matches is "not a good sign."

What did Roy Keane say about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s performance?

Trent was substituted out in his team's second game against Serbia, with many doubting his performance. He played only 53 minutes. In the midst of the park, Keane said that Rice had to "babysit" Alexander-Arnold. The Irishman even criticised the Liverpool fullback's play without having the ball, saying the same to ITV Sport. He said that, "He's not up to it. He doesn't have the level to play in the middle. Declan Rice has the impression of having to babysitting him in there. You can't do that at this level. You get found out."

The Three Lions' 1-0 win over Serbia in their first match wasn't convincing, but this was more of a step backward than forward. The Danes were superior, and Gareth Southgate's team wasted opportunities and failed to maintain possession. They won't be thrilled that they didn't get all three points. After England took the lead through a goal from Captain Harry Kane in the first half, Morten Hjulmand's thunderous shot equalised the score. Boos echoed throughout the Frankfurt Arena upon the sound of the full-time whistle, with the exception of the Danish side behind the goal.
