Brazil star Ronaldinho was unmistakably optimistic about his country's chances in the Copa America 2024 on American soil during the summer. The general vibe in the Brazil camp remains low as of late due to some disappointing performances, the latest of which included a 1-1 draw against the United States, after being thrashed 5-1 by Colombia only days earlier. Brazil begins their Group D campaign versus Costa Rica on Monday.

During a conversation on Friday, the former Barcelona and AC Milan star gave his thoughts on Brazil's chances in the forthcoming event. The former PSG playmaker said, “I'm not going to watch any of the game. Everything is missing, determination, joy, not playing well. I’m not even going to watch one game.”

Ronaldinho, 44, claimed the FIFA World Cup in Japan and Korea with the Brazilian side in 2002, as well as the Copa América in Paraguay in 1999, defeating Uruguay 0-3 during the final, with two goals through Rivaldo and one from Ronaldo Nazário. Despite his disapproval of the team's gameplay headed by Dorival Júnior, he thought Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior, member of the current squad Canarinha, "deserves" being awarded this year's Ballon d'Or. Neymar is now injured.

Brazil hang on against United States of America because of Allison’s heroics

Following a devastating 5-1 loss to Colombia on June 9, the United States national team drew 1-1 against Brazil on Thursday. This triumph is a huge lift for the USA ahead of their first Copa America match against Bolivia on June 24.

However, the match may go in favour of the United States when Brazilian custodian Alisson Becker prevented the United States from winning for the first time in 26 years against Brazil. In twelve consecutive matches, the United States national team has failed to defeat its South American opponents. This was the USMNT's first match against Brazil, and it was one they will remember for a long time.
