Lionel Messi is arguably the greatest ever footballer in the history of the game. The Argentine superstar in his prolonged career has some stellar moments that have defined game-changing for the club and the nation as well. Presently he plays for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the USA. The footballer left Europe after a year of his World Cup win in Qatar in 2022. He has played over 1000 games and has scored more than 800 goals combined.

The Argentina captain is currently training with the national team for the upcoming Copa America 2024. His team are the reigning champions and will look to defend the trophy in the USA, which is scheduled to take place from the 21st of June. He has been the leading goal scorer for the country and the whole of South America as well. Ahead of the tournament, he dropped a comment over the 2026 World Cup which is set to place in Mexico, Canada and the USA.

Messi was asked about possibly playing in the next World Cup for the country, as there were speculations that he has already played his last World Cup in 2022. He will be turning 38 till the next marquee event of FIFA and for a footballer of his age, it might be difficult to compete against the best teams. But the quality he possesses till now has been mesmerising to watch for the fans.

It depends on how I feel, and how I am physically: Lionel Messi

The star forward said, "It depends on how I feel, how I am physically, and being realistic with myself. Knowing if I am capable of competing and helping my teammates. Knowing how I am physically. There's still a lot of time left... in quotes, 'a lot and a little,' because it goes by quickly, but there is still some time and I don't know how I will be at that moment."

The footballer believes that the matches he plays at the present moment are not the same quality that he used to in Europe and the Champions League as well or in the league, whether in France or Spain. He will be looking at his work rate and see "if I am still up to the level or not... let's see."
