Barcelona concludes Matchday 10 of the La Liga season firmly three points ahead at the top of the table, securing a decisive 5-1 victory over Sevilla at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium on Sunday night.

Barça asserted their dominance in the first half but faced some challenging moments against a resilient Sevilla side. However, Hansi Flick’s squad displayed unwavering solidity, capitalizing on their opportunities to kick off a crucial week with a vital win at home. A warm-up injury to Eric García prompted Barça to adopt a more aggressive approach from the outset, with Ansu Fati stepping into the lineup and Raphinha moving into midfield.

Although the first 25 minutes posed some challenges, the home team managed to take the lead with Lewandowski converting a penalty. This goal sparked momentum for Barcelona, allowing them to capitalize on their opportunities and ultimately secure a commanding 5-1 victory in the fixture.

Lewandowski's exclusive La Liga milestone

Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski made headlines in the process by joining club legend Lionel Messi in an exclusive La Liga milestone. His achievement is a testament to his impressive performance during Barcelona’s recent match against Sevilla.

Hansi Flick’s squad is now rejuvenating their campaign, having welcomed Sevilla to the Catalan capital for a competitive La Liga clash. Robert Lewandowski had a huge impact on Barca's victory, contributing two of the five goals with another impressive performance. While doing so, the Polish international has etched his name into a remarkable chapter of more recent Spanish football history.

According to statisticians at Opta, Lewandowski has become the first player since Lionel Messi in the 2019/20 season to score 12 goals in his first 10 games of a La Liga season, matching Messi's achievement.
