Manchester United winger Amad Diallo took to social media to share his heartbreaking loss ahead of Saturday's (August 24) Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion. The 22-year-old revealed the tragic passing of his brother's mother and received love and support from all corners.

Sharing a picture of her brother's mother carrying him, Diallo wrote on Snapchat, "Rest in peace Mum, may God bless you."

Meanwhile, as the post went viral, many fans thought the Ivorian professional had lost his biological mother. However, the star footballer later clarified on social media that the woman in question was not his own mother but his brother’s.

He said on X: "Guys I wanted to clarify. She is not my biological mother, she is my brother's mother and my sister. May she rest in peace."

Diallo, who joined United from Atalanta for £37m, is expected to play a key role for the Red Devils in the coming season, having seen great progress in recent times.

Diallo's participation in Brighton clash remains uncertain

Notably, he was named in the starting XI in both opening games against Manchester City and in the Community Shield at Wembley and Fulham in last week's Premier League opener at Old Trafford. It is uncertain whether Diallo will play against Brighton given the circumstances.

The star forward had previously spoken about his bond with his brother's mother. He claimed she was in tears on the phone after hearing the news of his United debut.

"It was all so hard to believe. After I made my United debut against Real Sociedad, I called my mum after the game and she was in tears, saying that she couldn't believe it," Amad told the club website.

"Mum was really proud of me. She was always confident that I would make it to the top. But she always told me to stay humble, to work hard and never give up,” he added.
