Former Galacticos goalkeeper Iker Casillas has recently gained significant media attention due to his relationship with adult actress Claudia Bavel. Beyond this personal facet of his life, Casillas also made headlines during a public advertising event alongside former Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué. While they were once fierce competitors on the pitch, the two took the opportunity to exchange banters yet again, this time in front of the media.

Pique takes a dig at Real Madrid

Iker Casillas, a goalkeeping legend for the Galacticos, was present at the advertising event and strongly supported the letter that his former club has sent to the Royal Spanish Football Federation regarding the unacceptable standards of refereeing.

“I think the statement is good because the club has to defend its interests. The refereeing establishment after the VAR, now that each action is analysed a lot, they could do with a former player who, with his experience, could say what he sees. We can say when actions are voluntary. The handballs that Pique did, for example.” Casillas said.

"Of course, a former Madrid player. The commentators and referees are already from Madrid and now add players too," Pique replied starkly.

Gerard Pique shared his perspective with the media regarding Real Madrid's recent letter to the Royal Spanish Football Federation concerning refereeing in LaLiga. He suggested that this communication serves as a diversion from the challenges the team is facing on the field. Pique emphasised that the situation appears to have been influenced by the team's recent loss, indicating a motive to influence the officials amid their current atrocities.

“The statement is a complete smokescreen. They have done it for 120 years. When they lose, you have to talk about something else. It’s what they want. Referees are like that and that’s how they will be forever. They are going to be wrong.” Pique said.

Real Madrid leads the La Liga standings now with 48 points. They are set to take on Atletico Madrid in their next league fixture. On the other side, Barcelona will clash against Sevilla in an away fixture.
