Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly focusing on ensuring Kylian Mbappe's happiness within the team, potentially placing it above that of Vinicius Jr.
Mbappe is backed by Florentino Perez
According to a recent report from Sport, there are concerns from Mbappe's entourage regarding his primarily central forward role under Carlo Ancelotti. Since joining Paris Saint-Germain, he has achieved eight goals in 15 matches but has also faced challenges, not scoring in eight of those games. Mbappe has expressed a preference for playing on the left, a position currently held by the talented Brazil international, Vinicius Jr.
As per the Sport, Perez is considering prioritizing Mbappe's satisfaction over Vinicius', which could indicate a potential adjustment in player positioning. Vinicius has demonstrated his skills on the flank, netting nine goals and contributing six assists this season. However, the report indicates that Perez would only consider prioritizing Mbappe as a last resort.
Mbappe has an impressive track record as a left-winger at PSG, scoring 63 goals in 71 appearances and providing 17 assists. It's still uncertain whether Perez will have a discussion with Ancelotti regarding tactical strategies, especially given that Real Madrid currently trails Barcelona by nine points in La Liga, albeit with a game in hand.
Real Madrid played a disappointing match against AC Milan in the Champions League midweek, where they lost 3-1 despite Vinicius scoring their only goal. This weekend, they will be eager to bounce back and secure a victory against Osasuna.
Before the Champions League encounter, Real Madrid experienced a tough defeat against their arch-rivals Barcelona, losing 4-0 in the season's first El Clasico at Santiago Bernabeu. Now, the team is looking to regroup and aim for a more positive outcome in their upcoming match.
