Arne Slot‘s side have made an impressive start to their Premier League campaign with two consecutive wins, while concerns about Jurgen Klopp's departure are diminishing.
Newcastle United are still unbeaten after two games, but they narrowly escaped defeat in their last match against Bournemouth when a late goal was controversially ruled out.
In terms of transfers, Newcastle has been more active, securing five signings, while Liverpool's transfer activity has been slower. However, it looks like Giorgio Mamardashvili is set to join Liverpool, and Federico Chiesa's move to Anfield is getting closer, indicating that the Reds have been strategic.
Liverpool and Newcastle United enter Transfer War for Simakan
Both Newcastle and Liverpool are vying for the signature of Mohamed Simakan before the Premier League transfer window closes.
This has forced Simakan's current club, RB Leipzig, to make a move for a defender, as an official approach has now been made for Antonio Silva, according to reports from Florian Plettenberg.
It was claimed that Simakaran wanted to leave Leipzig in this summer transfer window at £38 million. Newcastle United shouldn't have problems with the transfer amount and Liverpool too have raised the required funds by selling Van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho.

Simakan: A greater need for which of the two clubs
Mohamed Simakan mainly plays as a centre-back but also has the versatility to play at right-back, which makes him an even more exciting target for potential teams.
Newcastle has been actively seeking right-backs due to Kieran Trippier's desire to leave. Additionally, they have been eyeing a centre-back all summer. Thus, Simakan could be the perfect addition to their team.
Eddie Howe prefers versatile players, such as Dan Burn, who has been transformed into a left-back at times.
On the contrary, Liverpool has already allowed Sepp van den Berg to leave for Brentford. Currently, their centre-back options are limited to Ibrahim Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Jarell Quansah, and Nathaniel Phillips. Therefore, there is a need for further depth in that area.
