FC Barcelona has decided not to sign Stefan Bajcetic this week. The 19-year-old midfielder was being considered as a cost-effective option to replace the injured Marc Bernal. However, Bajcetic has opted to go on loan to RB Salzburg for a year to gain more playing time.
It's been reported that financial constraints at FC Barcelona have led to the decision not to pursue Bajcetic. Despite the opportunity to register a replacement for Bernal, the club's limited salary budget makes it challenging to acquire the midfielder, especially as Liverpool is asking for a fixed 4 million euros for his transfer.
Barcelona is now to conclude a disappointing summer due to 'the fault' of Fair Play.
The club did not finalize the anticipated sales or manage to acquire the outstanding funds from the sale of Barça Studios. Despite the departures of Vitor Roque, Mika Faye, and Clément Lenglet, there was insufficient space to register Dani Olmo (the player from Terrassa was included in the squad in place of Christensen). Additionally, La Liga has not taken into account the revenue from the new Nike contract, causing the club to still be constrained in its ability to strengthen.

Football Transfer news, expert - Fabrizio Romano mentioned on his X that Barcelona's chances of signing the young prodigy hit a major roadblock.
Romano's tweet stated - “Barcelona currently can’t proceed with Stefan Bajcetic deal due to issues with Financial Fair Play. Salzburg expects Stefan to travel on Thursday to complete the loan move from #LFC, revealed two days ago. If nothing changes on Thursday morning, Salzburg hopes to get it done.”
In a different tweet, Romano stated that Bajcetic’s father, in an interview with RAC1, mentioned that they never expected Barcelona to enter the race and that they were already ready to go to Salzburg. However, Baljectic's father is also of the opinion that his son is ready to play for top European Clubs, be it Barcelona or Liverpool.
