Ace footballer Kylian Mbappe left Paris Saint-Germain to join his 'dream' club Real Madrid after his contract expired in June. However, the Frenchman still has some responsibilities due to his former club, which could see them in big trouble. PSG still owes Mbappe millions for unpaid wages and bonuses, and the latter is reportedly set to take legal action.

According to the French newspaper Le Monde, France's national team captain has filed a complaint against PSG with the legal committee of the French Professional Football League (LFP) and UEFA. The star striker claimed that he hasn’t received nearly 55 million ($60.94 million) from his former club.

This staggering amount includes the signing bonus Mbappe was supposed to receive from the club in February - €36 million ($39.88 million). The remainder relates to unpaid wages and additional agreed bonuses for the last three months (April, May and June) at the club.

Dispute could knock PSG out of Champions League

According to reports, Mbappe’s lawyers had sent PSG a formal notice regarding the settlement in mid-June. However, there was no response from the club, forcing the player and the team to move legally.

If PSG are suspected of having acted improperly, they will be in big trouble. Le Monde says the LFP could stop the Ligue 1 club from making transfers until the case is resolved, and UEFA could even revoke their license for this season. The move could cost them a place in the Champions League.

Real Madrid completed the signing of Mbappe in June 2024, ending their years-long wait for the superstar to join the club.

"A dream come true, So happy and proud to join the club of my dreams. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can't wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. ¡Hala Madrid!,” Mbappé shared his excitement of joining Madrid.
