Spanish football club giants, Football club Barcelona resumed their Laliga season post-international break on a victorious note. The Catalans faced Osasuna at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. The hosts headed into the contest as table-toppers and looked to establish their lead in the standings.
Barçelona's head coach was greatly confident of his team's capabilities even before the fixture. The team didn't disappoint him and amassed another 3 points from an important fixture.
In the pre-match press conference, Barcelona's manager Hansi Flick was asked whether he would tread the path of Real Madrid and refuse to play matches that are scheduled without sufficient break time. Hansi Flick provided a ruthless answer asserting Barcelona to be better at handling such situations.
"Real Madrid refused to play a match with less than 72 hours gap. What about you this week?" asked a journalist. “We are Barça, not Real Madrid. And I'm very proud that we are Barça,” Hansi Flick said.
Earlier this month, Real Madrid's manager Carlo Ancelotti threatened Laliga in the post-match press conference. After defeating Villarreal 2-1 Carlo Ancelotti asserted that his team won't show up if players are not given appropriate rest time.
Barcelona players backed up their coach's statement word by word. Playing their usual high line, the Catalans beat Osasuna 3-0. Ferran Torres opened the scoring for Barcelona in the 11th minute off a brilliant cross from Balde. Dani Olmo doubled Barcelona's lead with a penalty before being substituted with an injury. This season's top scorer, Robert Lewandowski scored the third in the 77th minute off a wonderful cross from Fermin Lopez.
FC Barcelona now leads the Laliga standings with 63 points, followed by their arch-rivals Real Madrid, who sits second with 60 points. Barcelona will next face Girona on March 30th in their pursuit of defending the Laliga crown.
