Thomas Tuchel, Bayern Munich's coach, stated to the media prior to their match against Hoffenheim that he will be leaving the club. This comes just minutes after Christian Falk of Bild as well as Florian Plettenberg of Sky announced that the two parties were unable to come to an agreement.

It's conceivable that what caused problems was the one-year contract extension – reports claimed that Tuchel desired the board's "full backing" and hence asked for an additional year on his existing term, which runs until 2025.  Bayern, meanwhile, desired that he finish his current contract, probably with the intention of hiring somebody similar to Xabi Alonso later on. That appears to have backfired for the club's management.

Tuchel indicated earlier in the year that he will leave Bayern at the conclusion of the season, having overseen the club's first trophyless season in almost a decade. But it was just claimed that he was in talks to continue at the German powerhouse after four potential managerial candidates were turned down.

Ralf Rangnick, Oliver Glasner, Xabi Alonso, and Julian Nagelsmann all apparently passed up Bayern, prompting club officials to consider retaining Tuchel on for another season. Despite rumours about a possible U-turn in recent weeks, the 50-year-old has vowed that he will not stay at the Allianz Arena.

At this time, it appears like all possibilities are on the horizon. Maybe fans should ready themselves for the comeback of Niko Kovac, as everyone else appears to be dodging the Bayern position at the moment.

“I am leaving Bayern” : FC Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel

Ahead of his side’s game against Hoffenheim tomorrow, Thomas Tuchel spoke to the media as he announced his departure.

The former Chelsea manager said, "This is my last press conference as FC Bayern manager. There were talks, but we didn't reach an agreement so the decision of February still stands. The feedback from recent weeks was the foundation for us having a discussion to stay and continue together, but we couldn't reach an agreement. I won't name the reasons. I am leaving Bayern."
