In his quick response to the news, Piers Morgan brought up Cristiano Ronaldo's remarks about the Dutchman in 2022. He tweeted by saying that, "Every single word that Cristiano told me about Ten Hag in our explosive interview was born out by events. He was an over-promoted, delusional, disrespectful, and thoroughly mediocre manager who couldn’t handle world class talent or run a club that size."

Ronaldo attacked the Dutchman in the interview, saying that if the manager didn't show him respect, he would "never have respect" for him. Cristiano Ronaldo added that Erik ten Hag and a few other people were attempting to evict him from United around the time.

Cristiano Ronaldo said during the old interview that, "The coach didn't have respect for me. So this is why the relationship, it's in that way. He keep saying in the press that he come to me, he like me blah, blah, blah, but that is only for the press, 100 per cent. If you don’t have respect for me, I'm never going to have respect for you."

“He talks in complete gibberish” : Piers Morgan on Erik ten Hag

Days after Ronaldo scored his 900th goal during his international career, the 59-year-old said on talkSPORT that the Portuguese superstar was "one of the most lethal finishers in world football." If that were the case, Morgan was asked why Manchester United was allowing him to leave so simply.

Piers Morgan said, "Because Ten Hag is a complete idiot. I'm sorry, he is. He has been since he went there, right? He talks in complete gibberish. He's now banging on about Harry Potter or something. Ten Hag is everything Ronaldo told me he was in that interview, which led to him leaving United.”
