Manchester City made out a 3-3 draw against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final 1st leg. The game was end to end on Tuesday night. With three world-class goals scored at the iconic Bernabeu stadium. The atmosphere in the ground was breathtaking with the fans having the loudest of cheers for the home side. City took the lead in the 2nd minute of the game with Bernardo Silva scoring directly from the free-kick. Madrid scored two goals in 3 minutes to take back the lead.

Phil Foden and Joško Gvardiol scored two long rangers to put the visitors back in the lead. But the lead was cancelled out by a brilliant volley by Federico Valverde in the 79th minute of the game. Pep Guardiola will not be happy with how his team has performed and will look to cover up the mistakes to win the 2nd leg. The Spanish coach has dropped a comment about the pitch after the game.

The 52-year-old head coach believes that the 'carpet of the pitch' has not been up to the mark as he has a lot of experience with playing and coaching on the same ground over years for FC Barcelona. The reaction came from his players' experiences rather than his own, but he made his issues clear and also said that the issue should not be taken negatively.

Guardiola is not happy with Bernabeu's pitch

Guardiola said, "Don’t let the president take it the wrong way or let the people take it the wrong way. The field is spectacular, the locker rooms… it’s an impressive piece of work. I remember that Real Madrid always had very good grass, it was like a carpet, but today that was not the case."

The defending champions will look to turn things around in the 2nd leg of the tournament and qualify for the semi-finals. On the other hand, Madrid would like to qualify for the last 4 and go to Wembley for the final to win their 15th trophy.
